Technology in Education

Technology has become a defining force in our lives, and its relevance is spreading to virtually every field in one way or another. While some people may go their entire lives never needing to recall the knowledge they gained in various classes throughout their educational career, their experiences with technology will most certainly come in to play very early during their adulthood. With respect to the importance of technology in education, there are four reasons why technology is important:

  1. Expansion of Time and Place: Instead of learning in a limited time in the classroom, a student can use the Internet anytime and discover unlimited range of new information.
  2. Depth of Understanding: The more a student search using a computer on the internet, the more e/she will understand a topic or an idea.
  3. Learning vs.Teaching:Teachers can not only give lectures to students, but also give them projects to do individually so that each one can open the internet and start searching which encourages their critical thinking.
  4. Lower Cost: Using educational tools in the internet web, students can reduce using high cost textbooks which give limited information about a certain topic.
